Borat

I went to go see Borat on Saturday and LOVED the movie! I had never really seen Ali G. but saw the previews for Borat and thought it looked so funny and really wanted to go see it. Although some parts may be offensive to Jews, it kind of goes back to when we discussed the Hebrew Hammer. It may be offensive to Jews, but it is a Jew that is potraying this part and so I did not really find myself offended in parts, more shocked, but then laughing at the same time! Borat has been the cause of much controversy though. His frequent anti-semetic humor and racist potrayl of Kazakhs has been brought up by the Anti-Defamation League, which is a U.S. based pro-Jewish group. They complained to HBO even though Sasha Baron Cohen is a Jew himself. This all reminds me of our discussion about how far is too far with this sort of Jewish humor. All in all i thought this movie was great and I think it was the hardest I had laughed in a long time. While some parts may have been offensive, you just have to take it for what it is and this type of humor clearly is not going to appeal to everyone.
